Blizzard restriction on tainment is causing delays to the release of World of Warcraft 's Shadowlands expansion due to work from house conditions brought on by the coronavirus outbreak that continues to plague the world. The date of the release has not been set however, the studio has stated that Shadowlands will still release later this year.
In a blog post announcing the delay, Executive Producer John Hight said it wasn't an easy decision to make but one that was needed to make for the expansion as well as World of Warcraft players. Hight added that the additional time for development will enable the team to bring more polished features to Shadowlands the game's final. In general, a patch pre-release comes out about a month before an expansion is released. It wasn't happening yet so some players believe that it was being delayed earlier than it was made official.
"As the game began to take shape and we've spent time listening to and incorporating your feedback and feedback, it's clear that there's a need for a bit of time to polish the game and to balance and iterate with interlocking pieces that are particularly that are related to the game's endgame," Hight said. "Shadowlands is one of the most intricate expansions that we've developed to date. And while we've made huge progress, the challenge of adjusting the game's endgame was made more difficult by the fact that our team is working at home.
"Blizzard has a commitment to quality. We are convinced that Shadowlands will be a truly unique experience We've heard from many of you who feel the similar with WOW WoTLK Classic Gold. We'll need this extra time to make sure that Shadowlands can live up to its potential to the fullest."
